A few suggestions / wishlist

Asked by ChromeTiger on 2010-08-07

First of all I love Docky, I just switched from awn and im amazed at how much better it is.

If I had a wishlist of things i'd like to see in docky that I miss from other docks it would be

Stacks: I used awn stacks to place all my most visited bookmarks in ie. Facebook Deviantart Gnome-Look
the few sites I visit on a daily basis for me thats quicker than traveling through Firefox's bookmarks or typeing
             it in every time

Icons: Right Click ability to change the Icon of launchers on the dock ,im using Docky 2.0.4 so sorry if 2.0.5 has this
feature. What buggs me is I like certain icon packs and it changes the icons for a number of my apps on the dock
and unlike other docks i have to way to change a few of the icons of that pack I dont like

Anchor: Ability to remove anchor from dock, but yet still have it in System/Preferances

1) Stacks are a work in progress and will be part of 2.1

2) You might want to look into Zeitgeist and our ZG helper, which would add most recently and commonly used bookmarks to the menu of your Firefox launcher on the dock, that might give you something better than stacks!

3) I am unsure if we will support customizing icons, you can do that yourself by modifying the .desktop file and we generally believe people should stick with their icon theme (or modify the icon theme if they dont like something in it)

4) you can already remove the anchor icon, but it requires a gconf key change - see our wiki (below) and search for 'ShowDockyItem' and set to false

5) our preferences are part of the dock itself, not a stand-alone application and as such putting an icon into system/prefs doesnt make much sense *however* you can write one yourself and use dbus to send a call to the dock to show its preferences
