Open GNOME's NetworkManager from Docky's Network Manager

Asked by Vítor Baptista

Hi,

I have some problems with Docky's network manager. For example, I use 3G connection. I can't connect with it without gnome-panel, because I can't open NetworkManager with Docky. In fact, if I don't run gnome-panel, I can't run NetworkManager even if I try from the terminal.

Is there any way to do it? Or even, is there any way to use it with Docky's network manager?

Thanks!

No, this is not possible. Our network manager is meant to be a very basic one that covers the majority of users on public wifi. It is intended to be used *in addition to* the normal one.

Robert,

So I am intended to use Docky AND gnome-panel? Or is there some way to use networkmanager without gnome-panel that I am not aware of?

Thanks.

For advanced networkmanager related tasks, you need to use the nm-applet.

No. Basically for *everything* that's not wifi you need nm-applet.

Can you help with this problem?
