AWN applet look

Asked by Natthu

I have been using AWN for the past 3 years and I really feel the dockbarX applet is way better in terms of features than the default Task Manager applet in awn. However, the one thing stopping me from using it is the look. Can't the icons look like they do in the default task manager applet (without a square background, kind of floating)? Also, with awn I can control the size of the icons. I would really like these 2 features to be implemented in dockbarX.

Did you try the themes Dock or Dock2?

There are no icon size option in DockbarX and there probably won't be because the philosophy dockbarx uses when it comes to looks is: when you are forced to choose it's better to give the power over looks to the theme makers than the user because that favors all users and not just the poweruser.

That said, by setting icon size and compensation (freely translated, you find it in advanced tab) in awn carefully you should be able to get dock and dock2 themes to show up with the same size in icons as the rest of awn (notice that dockbarx for now are unable to notice changes in compensation so you need to change the icon size before dockbarx icons are redrawn in their new size).

Also, I think I once saw a theme that tried to look like the old style of AWN. It was on DeviantArt, IIRC.

First of all, let me thank you for your prompt response. Really appreciate
it.

I searched "dock2 theme for dockbarX" and got no result. Could you please
provide me a link to the themes you mentioned in your previous answer?
