How to update database (e.g. firefox bookmarks)?

Asked by Bernhard

How (or when) are the firefox bookmarks updated in the gnome-do database? I have the "firefox" plugin enabled and the bookmarks do show up, but I added some bookmards recently and the new ones haven't shown up yet.

Gnome-Do updates its database when it is restarted; I have never noticed it updating before that.

Actually, I think it does not update every time it restarts. It takes a bit longer than that. In my case, the bookmarks got updated about 24 hours later.

I was just wondering if there is a manual way to update the database.

I did some searching on the Internet, here is what I found: I still believe Gnome Do does update every time it is restarted (maybe even more often?); for Firefox bookmarks it uses a JSON file, which Firefox updates only once a day, hence your bookmarks appear in Gnome Do after a day – I do not think any function of Gnome Do currently helps you to work around this, but there seems to be some discussion on how Gnome Do retrieves Firefox bookmarks.
