Is it possible to change the purple default docky icon into a selfcreated one?
Hello,
is it possible to change the purple gnome-do icon in the docky into a selfcreated one by the user? Where can I find the file where the icon lies wich is shown in the docky?

Hello Oleg,
many thanx for your answer! After renaming my selfcreated Icon with gnome-do.png, I changed it with that one in /usr/share/
But sadly no chance,...the icon in the docky still stays the same purple default one!!

I don't think it's the right method, but i did like this and it work.
You go to : /usr/share/
And you do it again in:
/usr/share/
I don't know which of the two is the good one i change both.
This works for Ubuntu 8.10
( sorry for my english)

salvas hi!
strange, that icon doesn't change.. when you right-click icon of gnome-do on dock, select settings and then click onto icon — that open window of selection of icon, try to change default icon on something else.

Hello Thomas,
many thanx for your support. I will try this, but can't do it right now. I don't have a selfcreated icon in .svg! I have to wait for a friend that he he can create it for me in .svg. But I think this will be next week! I will let you whether it worked or not! I had the scalable icons in suspicion!
Hello Oleg,
many thanx for your second tip! I use version GNOME Do 0.8.1. When I right-click the default icon of gnome-do in the dock and then select settings there is no icon to click on or to change!?

As you i didn't have an svg icon, so i rename an .png icon in .svg and its work. You have to reboot your system to see the changes.

that looks like settings of gnome-do itself, nor like settings of dock element.

There is no settings for dock elements. There is just "exectute"

Thomas - we're talk 'bout different things. When I told dock element - I mean Gnome-do itself, like element of Gnome panel.

Hello boys,
my GNOME-do docky looks exactly the same like the one Thomas has! Couldn't find the options / settings that Oleg is showing!?
A small success I have to tell you: ...when I hover over the purple gnome-do Icon it changes, while zooming, to the icon I put in /usr/share/
Now I have to find the place where the icon lies in when dock is in unzoomed position
Hope that there will be an easier way to change icons in future versions of GNOME-do docky!

Thomas — it's look like you are using Awant Window Navigator, but AWN is NO default app in Ubuntu. That because I ask.
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
That's all icons of GnomeDo
And also — try to look into /home/user/

Ha!
Right this moment it works!!!
I wanted to try a different size for the icons, and for that I had to activate the clock in the docky. At that moment the purple default icon switched to the custommade one,...yeaahhh! Finally it works!
I would thank both of you for your gorgeous support! Hope to hear from you in the future!
P.S.: Now I have to create a new Gnome-do icon,...the old AWN icon doesn't fit so good! hehehe

Hello,
I was bit too early happy! After GNOME-do docky was displaying the selfcreated icon, the shortcut <Super>space doesn't work anymore!?
Has anyone the same problem?

savalas, do you try to change shortcut?

Good morning Oleg,
yes I changed the shortcut,...but no the gnome-do search mode doesn't show up! With the origininal default icon it does apear.
Btw,...I launched a bugreport with the wish to make it a bit easier for the user to launch other icons than the default ones: https:/

Good morning salvalas!
Right decision, 'cause that is very strange - icons & shortcuts.. I advise you to open another bug 'bout disappearing of shortcut with full list of what you are doing :)

That's strange. The own-icon works fine for me, whatever the zoom.
By the way, i had the bug of the shortcut too. I just had to reboot. I don't known if it will be as easy for you ;)
Good luck

Hello friends,
very strange, today I uninstalled gnome-do and after that I installed it again. I put my selfcreated icons in the right place and for the moment it works!
Again many thanx for your support!

well adding an icon to the current icon theme also works. for example i use the icon theme buuf-deuce so i added an icon named gnome-do.png to the directory /home/yohan/
