Do

can't activate advanced text entry features

Asked by pablochacin

The description of the latest release (0.8) mentions advanced text entry like copy paste, which can be activated by pressing ".". This is not working. Do's entry is always in raw text mode. I've tried changing the activation shortcut to other key sequences, but I got the same result. Am I misunderstanding what this feature is or how to activate it? I miss the paste very much for twitter posts!

Can you please re-explain what you are doing, what you expect to happen, and what is actually happening?

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere, but what I'd like to see (and what I believe pablochin means) is the raw text entry box (after you press . ) act like any other standard text box... allowing you to copy/paste and move the "cursor" forward/backward in the text.

What I expect is what the gnome page says:

>Improved Text Entry
>With support for copy, paste, and longer lines of text, Do's new extended text entry mode is perfect for composing emails
>and tweets. Activate text entry mode by pressing your period key.

Well, that is not happening at all. Either I don't understand how to activate the feature or it is not working. I even tried changing the activation key to <alt><insert>, but still nothing at all happens. The text entry is the same old raw text entry. No copy/paste, for example.

 I'm using gnome-do 0.8.0 in Ubuntu 8.10.

Thanks

Copy and paste is broken in the first pane in 0.8, it works in second and
this has been fixed for our next release.
