How can I install a plugin manually?

Asked by schaggo

Is there any information avalable how to install plugins manually? I'm asking because through the "preferences" dialog no plugins are avalable (possible bug in the amd64-package).

Thanks for enlightening me.

You can drag and drop plugin dll files onto the plugin list in your preferences window.

Humm, and where can I get the dll files?
In the downloaded plugins folder there are some scripts (install-sh), but no instructions how to execute. Because I'm not very experienced in compiling files I need a little manual/syntaxdescription or someting similar.

Thanks!

Why can't you just use the package? The 64-bit plugin package works fine.

The preferences/plugins-tab is empty like my purse and I did not found any extra package to download exept the "gnome-do-plugins-0.8.0". From this I try to install.

Is it possible, that I did not understood the concept?

So install the gnome-do-plugins-0.8.0 package...

I'd like to, but the install-script doesn't work at all. I'm not able to understand the contents of the script enough to fix the problem by myself.

Thats why I originally asked for assistance to install them manually.

What do you mean "install script". You just use autotools. make.

Uhh, I'm a user, not a coder. I thought that install-sh is a installscript... now I understand that I have to compile the sources, but I never compiled something before. It's a bit frightening ;-)

OK, so I will inform myself and try to "make" the files. Fascinating what linux does with me....
