Do

How do I make Docky show using my keyboard?

Asked by vladimir prieto

Docky mode can be "Automatically Hide" very easily. the problem with this, is that i can't find a way to show it up by keyboard shortcut. Don't be confused with Gnome Do, cuz i can make the switch and work with Do as normal in Docky mode.

What i want, is to show the Docky Main View (the dock) with its icons. Why? you may ask, dock not only shows icons, it also shows what programs are opened. so the only way i can show it up again is with the mouse and i think that way IS NOT the Do way...is it?

thanks for your answer...

Press your default Do shortcut to summon Docky, and you can use it as a launcher. We do not plan on letting you summon normal Docky with all of its icons showing, because that is not the Do way either.

David, is there any chance you would reconsider this decision?
This is my idea, show Docky while still holding super (after releasing space), and switch to the launcher once it's released. I'd be really happy and think many Do users would find it useful, even if on by default.
Going forward, I'd love arrow key navigation to the running apps (while still holding super), but that's for a future request.
Do is one of my main 'selling points' for converting friends to linux, just felt you should know that, thanks again for it.

after upgrading to do v0.8 yesterday (and subsequently upgrading my nvidia driver), i must say my first reaction was exactly what vladimir raises here: "so... how do i get access to the dock without using the mouse?" overall, i'm awesomely pleased with what gnome do is doing for the linux desktop. here's wishing this project lots of success. / eitan
