Do

Why is my theme choice grayed out in Do's appearance preferences?

Asked by moxen

Hi, I installed in Intrepid Ubuntu gnome-do and plugins v 0.7.95.1-0~intrepid~ppa1 via the repos (in synaptics) described at this site: https://edge.launchpad.net/~do-testers/+archive. I would like to use docky but in -> preferences -> appearance the theme button is just grey. How can I activate it ?

You need to have a composited desktop environment, you can do this either be
starting metacity with the -c flag, or using a window manager such as
compiz.

I had some problems with compositing but after typing the command sudo nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals -d 24 that I learned from this site http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/keine-fensterdekorationen-mit-compiz/. Now everything works fine.
Thanks
