yes, if you are using hardy you have to enable universe repos first

To do the same refer this link

http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/sources

then type the following command in a terminal (applications -> accessories -> terminal)

sudo apt-get install gnome-do

Ubuntu != Debian. I don't know that I'd try installing Hardy packages. FWIW I compiled gnome-do on Debian Sid (it's not in the repo) and it works fine..
