Do

Firefox 3 Bookmarks not indexed.

Asked by Jason Wigg

Running Xubuntu Hardy, GNOME-Do indexes all the default Firefox bookmarks:
Customize Firefox, Search the Web, etc, etc.

But all my personally added bookmarks (imported from my old Gutsy install) have not been indexed, or at least cannot be found in a search.

Some command line output from running gnome-do, which may or may not be relevant:
...
28/04/2008 2:43:32 PM [Info]: Successfully loaded "Firefox Bookmarks" item source.
...
28/04/2008 2:43:32 PM [Error]: Failed to load item source from /usr/lib/gnome-do/Do.exe: Method not found: 'Default constructor not found...ctor() of Do.Core.DoItemSource'.
...
28/04/2008 2:45:43 PM [Info]: Updated "Firefox Bookmarks" Item Source.
...

I can attach the entire output if necessary. Could this be a symptom of using Firefox 3?

Upon further investigation it appears to be a "bug" with Firefox 3. Firefox 3 was not saving any of my bookmarks to ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/bookmarks.html (I still have no idea where it was keeping a record of them), but exporting my bookmarks to that location and then reloading Do allowed them to be indexed properly.

Setting browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML true should make this automatically for you.
In theory. Doesn't give the effect for me though.

Shouldn't be necessary at all with do >0.5.1.

I don't know why, but with GNOME Do 0.4.1.0 I still cannot access some of my bookmarks (it seems only few from Personal Toolbar).
