Do

Gnome-do option problem

Asked by Rodrigo Moreira Araújo

When using gnome-do, the only option shown when any folder or file is selected is "Open Terminal Here" instead of "run" or "open".
I have already seen other questions about this, but it's always said to choose the option and then do will learn the preferred one. But I couldn't find any way to choose the option run or open.
thanks in advance,

Rodrigo

Rodrigo, I find it troubling that you couldn't figure this out on your own. Can you please explain in detail:

  * what you found confusing
  * what we could change to make using Do less confusing

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

First of all, thanks for the amazing work here with Do. I do hope you keep it up.
So, the last problem I had was to know how to select other options. I didn't know until your last post, that I could choose other actions by pressing tab.
By looking further at the page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/GnomeDo/Use I found out that you do speak about the tab there, but it's located inside "Run in Terminal" which is by no means where I would look.
I think the Gnome Do/Use page could use a little rewriting. Besides that, there's no easy way for the user to change the color of Gnome Do and it isn't explained on the page at all that it depends on the user's theme.
Last thing is that Gnome Do has no help accessible offline. All informations the user might need are thought to be contained on the site, but it takes more steps than just searching them offline through a simple Faq that could be available through the little arrow menu on the top right of Do.
I would be pleased to help writing this Help, Faq or the Gnome Do/Use page.

Thanks for the quick answer,
Rodrigo

Please feel free to add to the Use wiki page whatever you think is appropriate. We will write a thorough use guide someday :)
