How to use gnome-do as (simple) calculator?

Asked by Nikolaus Filus

Until now I used katapult and want to switch to gnome-do. The last feature I'm missing is an integrated calculator, which I'm using very often. I'm using 0.4.0.1-0ubuntu1~ppa2 and If I type
 (2+2)
gcalculator is offered as one possibility in the list, but it has to be choosen by some more key presses. Why doesn't simple
 2+2
work? Katapult shows directly the result. Is there another calc plugin?

There is not a different calc plugin currently. You can use the google calc plugin or see about getting a different calculator plugin written.

You can put this in as a wishlist bug item if you'd like, but no promises on when/if it would get resolved.

Do simply has a different architecture than Katapult, which is why just typing an expression doesn't result in it being calculated.

This is a poor excuse. I'm thinking of switching back to the deskbar-applet launcher just because the calculator works. Google calc plugin never worked for me.

Gotta agree here--gcalculate is slow and undependable. Looking forward to a reliable desktop-based calculator for Do soon.

Can you help with this problem?
