This would be great if someone wanted to work on it. It would be best to try to create a plugin to do query it via dbus. There is a dbus example plugin (for tomboy) here:

It's definitely a plugin on our wishlist.

It would be nice if this was targeted at the Xesam standard rather than hardcoding for Tracker.. some of us use and love Beagle, KDE4 users rely on Stringi and so on.. we need to rely on the storage the user actually employs.

agreed david, and I believe Tracker is supposed to be xesam compliant in the next release as well. Been busy getting back into school but i'll try to write something up. Not a programmer myself, but I attempt to keep up with these projects and have an idea of what to say. Feel free to correct it if i'm off.
