Do

Do you need help with artwork or a website?

Asked by Al Pagan

A little early, I know, but if you require any graphics for the app, I'd love to contribute. Gnome-Do's something I've been waiting for since I switched to Ubuntu from Mac OS X, leaving behind my beloved Quicksilver <sigh>, so well done to all involved!!

No, not early at all :) We'd really appreciate it if you'd contribute some art to GNOME Do. Maybe some icons or a splash screen? We also need art for a GNOME Do webpage. On that note, we need a GNOME Do webpage to put that art on ;)

I also switched to Ubuntu from Mac OS X, and missed Quicksilver very much. I think we're well on our way to fixing this missing piece of our computing experience.

Here's a link to a possible logo to start with: <a href="http://www.generamics.co.uk/hidden/gnome-do-logo.svg" alt="link to logo">http://www.generamics.co.uk/hidden/gnome-do-logo.svg</a>. As you can see, it includes the official GNOME logo, so I'm not sure about licenses and rights and so on, as the logo's trademarked.

Also, I could set up a site on my own server for now - could be based at gnomedo.generamics.co.uk as my generamics.co.uk uses an existing installation of Drupal as a site structure, so it wouldn't be any hassle to incorporate this new address. I take it you'd just want somewhere to display your video/screenshot content along with basic installation/intro info, and maybe a forum? I could set up admin accounts etc. If you needed the site to move to new servers at a later date, I'd be able to export the site database and uploaded files easy enough. Let me know if I can be of service.

Awesome! All of this sounds absolutely great. We can talk more about it later (I'll email you) but I have a domain, davebsd.com, that I'd like to use. I'll create do.davebsd.com and we can set some of that stuff up together.

I would love to help building the website. If some artwork could be supplied would be happy to invest some time in building the site.

Roel, we have no artwork but the application itself. I've always thought that websites featuring programs should focus on the program, so if you want to mockup a simple, static website with a nice screenshot of GNOME Do front and center, I'd be happy to use it!

I would love to do that. With my request for artwork I was referring to an icon and a few images as showed at the frontpage of this launchpad.
But i will start working on a basic website for Gnome-do next week.

I made some screenshots a while ago: http://do.davebsd.com/images/

The interface has changed since then, though, so maybe make some nice, new ones. It would be great to have a screenshot template and a folder we could just drop images in, and the website would just display a randomly selected screenshot of Do in action with each view.

I love the current logo, https://launchpadlibrarian.net/9390538/do-64-gray.png It's so simple and evocative! Beautiful!
