Do

install with apturl returning errors

Asked by brandonjp

Whenever I attempt to install something in Do using the apturl plugin, I get no gui notifications (no success or failure messages)... but if I run Do from terminal, I see this happening when I try to install something like "hwinfo" for example:

gvfs-open: file:///home/<USERNAME>/apturl%20apt:hwinfo: error opening location: Error stating file '/home/<USERNAME>/apturl apt:hwinfo': No such file or directory

Is it possible this error is because I am not using a keyring password? When I was first prompted to choose a password, I left it blank and that's the only thing I can figure out that's different on this machine compared to my others.

Thanks!

It seems I have the same problem here - but with sending email.
When I enter an address, and then choose 'Compose a new email to a friend', nothing happens, but the terminal spits out that:

gvfs-open: file:///usr/bin/xdg-email%20%<email address hidden>'%20%20%20%20%20: error opening location: Error stating file '/usr/bin/xdg-email '<email address hidden>' ': No such file or directory

Why would gvfs-open be called in order to run an application?
The solution would be to run xdg-email '<email address hidden>', which works perfectly on my system, instead of trying to open a file.

Is there anything one can do about this?

Can you help with this problem?
