Diodon is a unique name, but ...

Asked by Howard

Diodon is a unique name, but is there some easy way to remember that it's a clipboard manager instead of a Porcupinefishes or balloonfishes,? Just curious.

BTW so far, it's the only clipboard manager that I can seem to get to work reliably on Debian 9.0 Cinnamon 3.2.7. So score one for the Diodon team!

Also, I do wish there was a useful help to show how to use it better. I would think it would be at "Overview", or here: https://launchpad.net/diodon

And is there an easy way to use a hot-key to choose which item in the history to paste in? (Also can I search for an item to paste?)

Thank you.

Thanks for your feedback.

Well, Diodon is more of a fun name, but maybe you can imagine the fish as a container of all your clipboard items which it spits out when needed... :) maybe you have a better metaphor.

I agree it would be a good idea to put all Diodon tips together in a short overview in something like a FAQ. I put this on my list. For now I mainly use my blog to inform about new feature which you can find here https://esite.ch/tag/diodon/

There is also a blog post explaining how to configure a hotkey https://esite.ch/2015/07/using-custom-shortcuts-of-de-as-diodon-hotkey/

Concerning search functionality - there is currently only a Unity Scope integration https://esite.ch/2014/03/clipboard-unity-scope-with-its-full-potential/ which allows searching... I hope to work on a better GNOME integration soonish but there are no plans for Cinnamon. Diodon has a plugin interface though so plugins are always welcome.

Hope this helps.
