Feature Suggestion - Fixed / Static Entries

Asked by Andy

Perhaps an idea for the developers/users to consider/vote on the following idea of "Fixed / Static" entries in the clipboard.

Why :-
There are a few clips of text that I might use repeatedly in a day, so having them in a fixed position whilst all other clips fall off the end of the list do so in the usual way. But the fixed (commonly reused/required) entries stay visible.

How :-
Perhaps a simple textarea window that holds the multiple lines of 'Static' entries (one per line) to be shown at the top/bottom of the clipboard list. That data being stored in the local storage config file.

Usage :-
I might expect to see perhaps 5-10 entries in the Fixed / Static textarea, however, the textarea would just need to be 3 or 4 rows high with a scrollbar to pan the contents.

Hope enough people like the idea. It could certainly be useful to more than just myself.

Over to you guys for consideration.

Thanks Andy for your feedback.

This idea has been raised before and seems that there is a need for such a feature. It is therefore added to ideas for plugin Blueprint https://blueprints.launchpad.net/diodon/+spec/ideas-for-plugins and there is also a Bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/diodon/+bug/1249377 Linking this question therefore to this bug report.

Unfortunately there is limited time developing Diodon and there are quite a few things on the list for improvement see here for a summary http://iloveubuntu.net/diodon-sees-interesting-goals-including-system-settings-integration-new-zeitgeist-storage-backend . However this idea is on the list and I also hope that more community is getting involved picking up some of the great ideas for plugins.

Can you help with this problem?
