Diodon for users who prefer touch and mouse

Asked by Jebin

The present Diodon offers great utilities but it still lacks an easy interface for users who prefer mouse and touch. One can(I think) create a plugin with following features.

>In addition to the normal features, Diodon must have an interface which is analogous to the unity launcher(this can be on the right side). Let me call this clip launcher.
>The clip launcher must have clips(data stored in the clipboard) in place of the launcher icons.
>There must be an empty box in place of the dash icon for the user to add data.
>This allows the user to copy and paste through simple touch (or click) and drag interface.
>The right click (or long touch) menu may have options to delete clip, view data etc.
>The clip launcher must have autohide feature such that it pops out when we drag some data across or when we move the mouse to the right end of screen(some gesture in case of touch).

I think creating such an interface will be really tough but after looking at the various features Diodon comes up with, it is worth a try. Also please say if there is any plugin available which have nearly the same features as above.

Thanks for this feedback.

I had this discussion before while drinking a coffee and chatting to a friend ;).

Our idea was quite similar to yours but using the Launcher instead of programming it from scratch. So what we thought is to have Diodon in the Launcher. Per drag and drop onto the Launcher icon data could be copied. And on the other hand the user can use the indicator, lens or maybe even the quick list of the Launcher to choose an item.

Those are just ideas though and need some more thoughts what is really possible. I have created a blueprint https://blueprints.launchpad.net/diodon/+spec/touch-screen so this discussion can be continued.

The idea of using the launcher icon is great. I would prefer quicklist to other options. Thanks for creating the blueprint:)
