What is the redfish project?

Asked by Nick_Hill

Many bugs appear to be assigned to the redfish project. I have searched the internet, scoured Google but can find no definition here or on google about what the redfish project is. So here goes:

1) What are the aims of the redfish project?
2) How does the redfish project fit in with Ubuntu?

This may be answered by 1 or 2 above:
3) Why are bugs apparently with Ubuntu filed against the redfish project?

Yes, what is this "redfish" I keep seeing in bug reports?

I believe the Redfish Project is Ubuntu-on-Dell. Any bug affecting Redfish is a bug affecting the Dell-supplied Ubuntu machines.

Thank you.
Presumably, that excludes:
1) Older Dell models supplied before Dell started supplying machines with Ubuntu.
2) Current models never made generally available by DELL with Ubuntu pre-installed.

Is there a list held on Ubuntu of all models which should be covered by Redfish, and the hardware those models use?

I really haven't any idea about your new questions. I've just seen that the Redfish team is comprised of Dell.com and Canonical.com employees/members, and updates to bug reports mentioning redfish seem to be by dell.com representatives.
