It is the same as your user password. When you are prompted enter your user password (the same you use the login).

Sincerely,

Craig

hi, thanks kind sir for your speedy reply.
unfortunately, i dont think i have ANY kind of password on my system... i just turn it on and it boots up, no PW required. i am only prompted for this " Aministrator password" sometimes as described....

i will try to remember if i ever created any PW, but if i can't, - then do i have any options ?

thanks,
M.

It should have asked you to set your password the first time you booted it.

To change your password go to:

Applications > Accessories > Terminal.

Type in:

passwd

Now hit enter.

Type in your new password. It will not show up (blank), so you can't see what you're typing.
Now type it in again (to confirm). Press enter.

This is your new password (or password).

This is also your administrative password for your user.

It's odd that you didn't setup a password for your user. Did it ship like this or did you buy your Mini second-hand or refurbished? Dell will usually recommend a reinstall in these cases, I believe.

You can also follow these steps:
Go to System>Preferences>About Me
This will bring up the About User Menu, select Change Password in the upper right corner of the window.
Enter your new password.

However, I am worried both of these steps will require your OLD password.
