How can I install Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR) on a Mini 9 that shipped with Windows ?

Asked by Lirion

I'm really REALLY new to Linux and don't know much about it other than it's an open-source, free, community driven OS. I'm finally fed up with Windows and want to try something new, but with anything new, there's a fear associated with it. I just purchased a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with Windows, but want to make it like the Unbuntu version Dell offered. I read that their version is called a "remix" and since Dell wasn't helpful at all, I find myself here. My question is:

Does anyone know what the Unbuntu Remix for Dell includes, how do I find all the pieces and where do I get them (or is there one place I can get everything as one download)?

Thank you all for your time.

The Deel, remix includes some proprietary stuff, that dell packs in, so unless you want to pay for a new Mini 9, you won't get the exact interface, however Ubuntu has made a netbook remix, that is similiar and available free of charge.

If you wish to do that, you will need to install Ubutnu Hardy Heron first, to do that, instructions are here:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick

And about installing on a small pc:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EeePC/Installation

Once you have successfully done that, I can advise you on howto download the netbook remix parts.
