Confused--can't use the program

Asked by Jane Heidelberg

Linux Mint 19.3 I installed Deja Dup through the Software Manager and tried to run it. Couldn't because I didn't have Duplicity. Installed Duplicity. Decided to try it for a backup. Couldn't find Deja Dup in the menu. Went to the software manager and it is installed. Launched through the Software Manager and got a small window that said it couldn't run because I hadn't set it up through Google.

I HATE Google and use it as little as possible. I would be backing up locally to external HDs. Why is Google required? Is there any way to avoid it?

I save everything to external HDs, so I have a real need to back THEM up. Is this possible with this application?

Hello! Sorry that Deja Dup wasn't an easy experience.

Google shouldn't be required. Can you change the storage location on the left side panel in Deja Dup?

Backing up to local drives is supported, yes.
