"FTP server is busy", no diagnostic output

Asked by Betty on 2017-10-18

For some time, Deja-dup's automated and manual backups have failed shortly after starting with the message "The FTP server is busy, try again later." I have restarted the ftp server several times, and signing into the server from the command-line shows no issues with the ftp.

Additionally, no output is produced using "$ DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup --backup" that I can find that might help me hunt down a more specific error.

Does it work fine when mounted from Files (nautilus)?

Michael Terry (mterry) said : #2

In the sense that you can mount it and add/remove files

It does not mount from Nautilus, at least not using ftp. Further investigation shows that I can login using ftp, but not sftp, which seems dodgy. I think the problem is obviously the server. Thank you for your help!

Well, either the server or gvfs which is the software nautilus and deja-dup use to talk to the server. Might be worth opening a bug against gvfs if it looks like your server is doing he right thing.

Glad you’ve got a workaround in the meantime though!
