Hello James.

If your password is stored in the password manager of your distribution and only asked every X backups:
Please read the manuals provided for that software to find out, if you can restore your password from this. (If you name your distribution and version I might point you on something).

If your password is asked every time:
It might be, that your password was mistakingly changed by a tipping error with your last full backup. See bug 918489. Because this fix is rolled out at the time being (at least for ubuntu) you can not use it to "reset" your password with the next backup (which would break the connection to the old backups).

I would do the following instead:

1. Delete the current incomplete backup chain.
2. Try to restore the last complete backuo chain using duplicity and your remembered password.
2.1 If this is successful: Keep it as a backup.
3. Start from scratch by backing up to a new empty directory.

If some of these steps need more explanations do not hesitate to ask for it.

Good Luck

Vej
