Deja Dup BackendException problem

Asked by Wayne Jolly

I have been running Ubuntu for a long time and a few months ago upgraded from 15.10 to 16.04. I started using Deja Dup while still running 15.10, and it was running fine on 16.04 until this week. I now get the error "BackendException: Could not initialize backend: No module named repository". I have seen other problems where the module is "gi.repository", but my error just says "repository". I had duplicity version 7.06 installed from the distro, but I added the ppa and upgraded to 7.09, It didn't help. How can I fix this?

Thanks,

Wayne

Hi,

I had the same problem. After upgrade.

This command solved my problem:

sudo apt-get install python-gi

Both python-gi and python3-gi were already installed. As of 11-01-2016 I am still having the problem.

Thanks anyway,

Wayne
