The same backup setting is taking too long

Asked by hehe_br

Hi,
I have been using Deja-dup for over four years now, and since November last year the same backup that usually took 10-15 min now is taking over two hours, even for those days that there is no change in the files that are included in the backup.
Things I have tried:
- I have checked to see if for some reason Deja-dup is doing full backups every time, but there are incremental and new signatures.
- I have uninstalled the program and installed again, but the problem persists.
- I have deleted the backup folder and used another folder, but the problem persists.
- I have deleted configuration files, but the problems persists.
- I even stopped using it for about two months because I did not find any way to solve it.

Have any changes been done to how Deja-dup executes the backups lately?
One thing that could be the cause is that I no longer have the option to keep the backup for a month, setting I had before the problem started, the minimum now is 6 months, could that be the reason why the backup taking too long?
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Using it under openSUSE Leap 42.1 (x86_64)
deja-dup-34.1-70.1.x86_64
duplicity-0.7.05-1.1.x86_64s

Thanks for your help and attention!

No, I don't think there have been any recent changes on the deja-dup side. *MAYBE* on the duplicity side (the underlying command line tool that does the backup). But I doubt it.

Deja Dup does occasionally make a full backup (every few months), and that can take longer than normal... But I'm not sure what would cause a slow down every time.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your reply!
Then perhaps should I create a bug for that?
This because every single backup takes more than an hour, even for days that there were no changes in the files in the backup. This really disturbs because it consumes lots of cpu resources while I cannot set a proper time for it to start, so it always starts in the morning while I am working.
