I want to change my back ups to a different hard drive.

Asked by Ron Briscoe

I have successfully been using Deja Dup by backing up to a separate hard drive in my computer, however I now wish to use a larger hard drive in a removable cassette. Despite altering the backup destination in the storage settings window, when I try to backup to the new drive I get the following error message.
"Permission denied when trying to create /media/ron/Ubuntu_backup/duplicity-full.20150826T1S12542.vol1.difftar.gz"

However when I revert to the old backup location Deja Dup backs up as normal. The old location was named as Ubuntu Backup, no underscore.

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Ron

"Permission denied" indicates that the access right restrictions on the new device/directory seem to differ from those used for the old disk.

what is the output of

ls -l /media/ron/
grep -i backup /etc/fstab
