Saving proper file ownership and permissions?

Asked by David Levey

I've tried reviewing available information, however have been unable to find it any where. I initially created a backup as my main user, however received permission denied on a few core/critical directories. To rectify this, I've recreated the new backup as root (or with sudo permissions). However, my question is, if/when I restore from this created backup will all files be restored with the original ownership/permissions or will they be restored with root ownership?

Thank you.

In general, Deja Dup is designed to be run as a normal user. You'll miss out on its automatic scheduling features if you run it as root.

That said, the files will restore with the original ownership/permissions.
