Don't have permission to write the folder

Asked by Mario Mey

I prepared a external hdd with Gparted to make some backups and copying files. After copying anything, I had to do:

chown -R mario:mario /media/hdd...

Now, I can copy files and folders... also, Back in Time can make backups in that hdd, but...

I want to use "Backup" from Ubuntu 14.04 to make backups and it says:

Fallo en la copia de seguridad
Error al crear el directorio: Permiso denegado

And nothing else.

I realized that I write "/md" or "/md/" (don't remember) in folder option. Now, I write only "md" and it created the folder "md" and made the backup right.

Shouldn't Backup accept "/md" as name of the folder, too...?
