Backup fails due to another instance running

Asked by Keith Drummond

For the last 4 days I have been recieving the following error each time a backup runs;

Another instance is already running with this archive directory
If you are sure that this is the only instance running you may delete
the following lockfile and run the command again :

So I delete the lockfile and the error comes back again.

I have looked in system monitor and can not see any other instances. Have run [rm -r ~/.cache/deja-dup] and reinstalled several times now but still the error keeps coming up.

Any suggestion would be great, thank you.

I am running deja-dup-27.3.1-2.fc20.x86_64 on F20

Sounds like you are using a recent version of duplicity with an older version of deja-dup.

Deja Dup 30.0 will work around this change in duplicity.

Can you help with this problem?
