can't get backup to run on dual user profile pc

Asked by Peter Jordan

I am running 12.04 lts on a pc. There are two users, self (administrator) and wife. On my profile dejadupe runs fine. but I was advised it wouid only back up my own files. I switched users to my wife and set up dejadupe on her profile using the same external drive for backups.
1. On my wifes profile the system does not see the external drive to run the backup yet it does on my profiel. It tells me the backup location does not exist but it clearly does as it is the same as the one that works correctly on my own profile.
2. The issue seems to be that the external drive which mounts correctly on my profile does not appear as an option to select in Deja-Dup on my wifes profile hence the app cannot then find the backup location.
Can anyone explain why this occurrs as I am unable to backup my wifes files at present. or is it the case that when I run a backup on my own profile it is backing up her files as well. Can not see from the existing backups that this is the case.

In my profile the external drive appears correctly in Deja-Dupand so is selectable.
In my wifes profiel in deja- dup the external hard drive does not appear as a selectable option.
In both profiles the external hard drive shows as correctly mounted in the disk utility programme.
