Is it possible to restore a backup without the .cache folder?

Asked by Marc

Hello team,

I did something stupid last night, I was probably in the moon as usual.

However I got a backup before the big disaster of doing an amazing rm -rf on the hiden encrypted forlder of my ubutnu home. DO NOT DELETE THAT !!!

No I have the backup using deja dup tool, but when I try to restore that copy I got an error message that my ~/.chache/deja-dup/... is not found. Of course not, I deleted all and I was quite safe about having a backup, or not?

Anyway, please let me know if there is anyway to run a recover from my backup hard disk to another folder where I could hopefully access again to my files.

Really appreciate any kind of help, many thanks,
Marc,

Hello all,

I was able to recover my data by using another user in Ubuntu.

I just used another user and run the deja dup application.

It looks like my user was completely broken and doing strange things.

Very very happy to recover all my home folder.

Any way, thanks and I hope it helps to someone else later on.
