Deja dup does not find the earlier backup on ubuntu one

Asked by Ferenc J. Stefan

 Hi
I wonder about this:
I have successfully set up the deja-dup backup program on locations of Ubuntu one.
I had to reinstall the ubuntu system due curiosity about 13.04.
Now i cannot figure out how to do restore from the previous backup from the Ubuntu one.
I would appreciate to have some advice.
Thank you in advance.

You should be able to open your System Settings, click on Backup, then say that you want to restore your previous backup.

Point it at the same Ubuntu One folder you used before (it defaults to a folder based on your computer name, so if you changed that during these installs, take note).

Take note... hmmm
If there is no "note", the backup is lost?
I found something on ubuntu one but actually it shows nothing except "share folder" and "stop syncing this folder"
When i direct the deja dup to this folder it says there is no backup. I wonder, is it possible the backup actually did not happen, or there is something important to do that i didn't see?
Im looking for that "new cloud folder" that i expect to be on ubuntu one o.O

By "take note" I just meant, be careful that you are pointing Deja Dup at the folder you originally backed up to.

On http://one.ubuntu.com/ do you see anything inside the folder? (for example, you should see a folder like deja-dup/XXX with obviously XXX being replaced by your computer name)

It is like that:
My storage
My synced folder
Purchased music
~/Thunderbird Attachments
~/deja-dup/chronos (4 days ago)
~/deja-dup/chronos2 (7 minutes ago) >>>that i just started because I want to see if it shows as much as the "chronos" folder that should contain the files of mine, but looks till now yes, it does not show anything else just the "share folder" and "stop syncing this folder".
then comes the
Folders
folder 1
folder 2
folder 3
etc.

I inserted the "/deja-dup/chronos" into the restore window of deja dup, yet winout success.

Giving up on request after 5 attempts, last status 400 Bad Request

I've got it once more: "Giving up on request after 5 attempts, last status 400 Bad Request" when i attempted to do back up on U1.
Anyway, i should have learned to make backup on two different place.
I did now on an external hard-drive, though i would love to have the Ubuntu-one alternative too.
If there are no way to get it back than i wont challenge any more.

Thank you for the attention.
Sincerely,
Ferenc

If there are any files inside the deja-dup/chronos directory, you could try downloading them manually. Then pointing Deja Dup at that folder. (That would help avoid any weird 400 Bad Request errors that Ubuntu One is giving you.)

But if there aren't any files inside deja-dup/chronos, it means nothing got backed up originally for some reason. :-/

Can you help with this problem?
