no-password-backup cannot be restored (FTP and/or Windows Share)
OS: Ubuntu 11.10
Déjà Dup-version: 20.1
path to backup: ftp (NAS)
encryption/password of backup: none
Had to set up a whole new Ubuntu 11.10. Now backup(s) cannont be restored (never tried before). Déjà Dup offers a list of backups to restore using ftp or "windows share".
Restoring fails because I cannot provide a password. I tried all the passwords I know: root-password, 2nd user's password, password of ftp-server and password for "windows share". None of these passwords worked.
Note: I didn't enter any passwords while creating the backup ("Allow restoring without a password").
Translation of dialog box (from german to englisch!) which shows up: "Please enter your password to change system-settings. // Déjà Dup Backup Tool allows you to change essential elements of your system."
What password is "your password" in this context?
Whatever I enter to the dialog box I get the answer (transated!): "Connetion failed, please check password (...)".
What can I try to do?

That's your root password, because Deja Dup believes you are trying to overwrite system files (did you choose 'restore to original locations' when you have backed up system files?).
You can either provide your root password or select to restore to a new directory instead of original locations to avoid the root prompt.
Can you help with this problem?
Provide an answer of your own, or ask Peter K. for more information if necessary.
