volume doesn't implement mount

Asked by James D Williams

I'm attempting my first backup. I'm running Fedora 15, using the Gnome GUI application. While trying to back up to a DVD/RW disc, I provide all the needed info, but when the actual backup is attempted, I receive the error message "volume doesn't implement mount". My first try was on an "unformatted" DVD. Then I labeled a DVD and put an empty folder on it and mounted it. This didn't work either. Lol, I can't be sure whether this is hardware, OS, application or dumb user related. Can you suggest something to me that might resolve this problem? Thanks, in advance. :-)

I was able to back up my home directory to a USB memory stick.

Glad you were able to back up! Sorry about the problems with your DVD, but Deja Dup doesn't actually support writing to a DVD. I know they are listed in the preference drop down though, which is a bug. I'm working on fixing that right now actually.
