Is it possible to use a different compression format?

Asked by Ryan Kitty

I was wondering if there is a way to change the compression type from tar.gz to something with a higher ratio like tar.xz or tar.lzma. If not, then why, and would it be feasible to implement it?

No, you can't change it right now. It would be feasible, but might be a bit of work. The proper place to implement that is actually in the underlying command line backup program duplicity: https://launchpad.net/duplicity

There's a mailing list for that program where you could discuss it.

Can you help with this problem?
