Déjà Dup

Is this a bug or i did something wrong?

deja-dup 19.4
Storage is set to Ubuntu One deja-dup/deb
Files Default
I click on Back up now...
Scanning OK...
Backing Up... Failed!

with the message:
Backup location ‘/https:/one.ubuntu.com/api/file_storage/v1/~/deja-dup/deb/duplicity-full.20110626T181225Z.manifest.part’ does not exist.

If I change Storage to "deja-dup/ubu on Ubuntu One' is working but with 'deja-dup/deb' Not working.
What I did wrong?

This isn't your fault. What version of duplicity do you have? You can find out by running the following:

apt-cache policy duplicity

Sorry for late reply, I missed your comment. I'd be interested in the output of the following line after you reproduce the problem:

DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup --backup | tail -n 200

After you get that debugging output to help me fix the problem, I have a workaround:

mv ~/.cache/deja-dup ~/.cache/deja-dup.old

And try again.

To reproduce the issue:
I click on back up now
When it say Uploading I disconnected my network connection
Retry by pressing back up now give this issue

with the connection ON I forgot to say.

* mv ~/.cache/deja-dup ~/.cache/deja-dup.old -> fix the issue

Awesome. Also, one reason your report was so troubling to me was that I had fixed a very similar error already (or so I thought) but it turns out I had bungled the packaging so the patch wasn't applied. The original error you encountered should be gone in oneiric now. Thanks!

For anyone finding this question in the future, you can change the temporary directory of Duplicity by editing:
/usr/share/pyshared/duplicity/globals.py

And changing:
temproot = None

To:
temproot = '/var/tmp'

or some other location.

This seems to do the trick for me with about 19GB available in /var. It's too bad this isn't a configurable variable via the GUI or even a configuration file. I dislike making changes in /usr if I can avoid it.

This change may go away when Duplicity updates get applied, depending on your update settings. There are ways to prevent updates to the file, but it may cause other issues if new variables need to be added to the file via an update, but the change is prevented.
