Backup from files on net

Asked by Lloyd Ewing

Will DejaDup allow me to backup files from the net? If so, how is it done?

I want to backup files from my old Windows computer. When I click on "Connect to Server..." in the DejaDup Preferences menu, it takes me to Nautilus. Then when I select a file, Nautilus tries to execute it.

I am trying to use DejaDup with Ubuntu 10.04.

It will let you put your backup files onto servers on the Internet. But it won't let you pull files from your networked computer and back them up. Is that what you were asking?

Michael,
Yes, thanks for the help, and thanks for the quick reply.

If I could make a suggestion, how about including text in the "Preferences" menus to indicate that those selections are for the source of the backup? If that is not possible you could include this info in the "Preferences" page of the "Deja Dup Manual" that comes up for help in the program? Or even the FAQ for Deja-Dup on Launchpad?

Oops, I meant to say "destination" instead of "source".
