About the pass phrase

Hello everyone. ^_^

The pass phrase asked with an encrypted backup is the key or is it the pass to protect the encryption key?

Is my hard drive is broken, can I restore my backup only with this pass phrase or a copy of the key is necessary?

Are you talking about your GPG key? Deja Dup uses GPG symmetric encryption. Which just uses the passphrase you give Deja Dup and does not involve your GPG key. That is, you don't need to separately backup your GPG key in case you lose it. You just need to remember the passphrase you gave Deja Dup.
