Strange behaviour with manage GUI

Asked by Tirukill

Decibel behaviors strange a little himself.
When I click minimize button on window it is minimized its window onto task panel and there is an it's icon in tray.
When I click close button on window it is closed.
If I click it's icon in tray Decibel hides GUI and there is only icon in tray.
Why are there such differences?
I think it will be better that Decibel will hide GUI by clicking minimize button or the icon in tray and will be closed by clicking close button.

Decibel is closed when you close the main window because that's what is recommended in the Gnome HIG. Hiding the window upon minimizing it is difficult, because a minimize event is sent to the application when switching of workspace, and Decibel cannot distinguish between such event and "real" minimize events.

Well, I don't get what is strange with the current behavior. The minimize button minimizes the window, as expected. The tray icon hides the window because that's what most people expect from a tray icon.

Certainly, it is only my opinion, but I think to hide a program by clicking minimize button is better than to minimize window onto task panel.
Thanks for attention.

Hello, sorry for causing noise.

I googled for a solution to the orginal reporters issue.
I would like to suggest this be a configurable option, like many other programs does it.

An checkbox option like "Close window minimizes to tray" thats off by default would both
conform with the Gnome HIG and implement the wanted behavior.

I second that, I'm just so used to other applications' behavior, that I always close decibel by accident.

Hi I came too to ask if there's a posibility in minimizing to tray when you click the close button.
Thanks.
