HP Deskjet F4240 does not print with Debian Lenny 5.0.3

HP Deskjet F4240 is recognized by kernel, installed by Operating System, but does not perform any printing jobs.

What else to say? Few dependencies are missing from original packages provided by Debian team. Better I will surround dependencies with "[]" or it becomes complete mess.I could not find [cups-devel],[libnetsnmp-devel],[libpthread] they are missing from database of availible packages. [dbus],[libusb] are actually installed but that is not so according to this log. [gcc] has got four versions i.e. no version,3.4, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and I have no idea which one is necessary. [libcrypto] is missing, I've got libcrypto++7 instead. Same story for [libjpeg] - [libjpeg62] is installed by default. [libtool],[make] are shown as required for dependency, but has not been installed during compilation of [hplip]. [python-devel] - Python development files, [PyQt] - Qt interface for Python are not present at availible database of packages. Reportlab - PDF library for Python is named as [python-reportlab] according to Synaptic - package manager. SANE - Scanning library development files are undefined according to packages. [scanimage] is not present.
Ain't that enough?
I got tired in the end printing all this. Finally switched on my System->Administration->Printing menu. Got to my model that was already there and right clicked at that. From context menu, selected Edit. In that window select tab Parameters and change URL of device by pressing the button Change. It will bring out list of possible devices from which I picked up my HP Deskjet F4200 Series printer. Than follows series of questions that you have to answer properly sticking to your model and manufacturer. Final quiz was about PPD settings. First I choose use old then changed to new. Nothing comes out. Just apply the changes preferably new. That's all done for now. Don't forget to power ON your printer in advance! As well as supply some paper in it. Works fine for me now! Even without all that headache reading hp-check output!
