Searching filenames only

Asked by Excelsior

I've noticed that when doing a search DC++ will find matches in the whole path. Is there any way to search only filenames and ignore what's in the rest of the path?

If you are using DC++ 0.696 & above, you might be out of luck.

* Files with no Tiger Tree Hash (TTH) no longer show up in search and directory listings

What version of DC++ are you currently using?

I'm using version 0.75. And I'm probably clueless here, but what does the TTH have to do with being able to search in filenames only?

Maybe there should be an option for this. Just a checkbox in the search window that says "Search only in filenames." If it's checked then it will perform the search in the filenames, and if it's unchecked it will perform the search in the whole path.

I often get a lot of irrelevant results just because of inappropriately named directories and so on, so it seems like this might be a useful feature.

Nothing. The answer is irrevelant to your question.

Interesting, that its a problem for you as I found this behaviour always an advantage. The only thing you can do is repeat the search with adding the unneeded directory name as another keyword but starting with a hyphen ( -dirname ), which will filter out the results containing your unneded dirname.

Your propose would need a protocol change (or a hack filtering the incoming search results) for NMDC but I suppose it can be easily implemented in ADC so this possibility would be available in the future networks. You are free to file this problem as a bug, marked as 'Wishlist'...

Can you help with this problem?
