How do I start a DC++ channel?

I want to start a DC++ channel for various reasons. I have data I want to share, a computer dedicated to it and people interested in joining. How do I start a channel?

a "channel" is generally called a "hub" in DC. to start a hub you have to run a hub program, here is a list of such hub programs: <http://www.dslreports.com/faq/dc/7._Operating_a_Hub>

Ive looked at these links. I spent quite some time playing around with DSHub and YHub. I also went through their usuer manuals. Still, I don't understand how I can get from starting the software / "my hub" to having other people connect via DC++
