multi-core support? hashing etc.

Asked by aaa3

Hy!
Does DC++ support multi-core CPUs?
What and where should i set so file hashing is not running on only one of my cores? I'm using XP SP3 with an AMD Quad-core...

What version of DC++ are you currently using? I'm not sure if you are referring to this option, File/Settings/Advanced - Use fast hashing methods. If you are using the latest version of DC++, do you have, Use fast hashing method, enabled or disabled by going to File/Settings/Advanced?

No, DC++ (along with the vast majority of applications) does not support muli-core yet. However if it'd do your hash speed won't be much higher since on a nowdays' computer the speed of hashing is largely depends on the disk I/O speed and not on the CPU.
If your hashing speed (of large files) nearly reaches the speed you can get when you copy files from one drive to another then it is the maximum value, you won't get higher speed for hashing even if it would run on four or more cores...

For Twilight, the option you mentioned is using a new polished hashing with better memory management and better handle of removable devices. Its merely faster because it uses less memory resources.
