Cannot download in active mode although search works perfectly

Asked by Roald Gjermani

Hello,

I am not able to download any files or filelists although the search results in active mode work perfectly (I can see way more results compared to passive mode).

I am using the latest DC++ version 0.880 on Windows 11.

I have tried Active mode by letting DC++ configure my router automatically but I didn't work, it says that the ports cannot be mapped.

Therefore, I have configured manual port forwarding in my router and I have added all the exceptions in Windows Firewall for allowing incoming connections to DC++.

I also disabled the Windows firewall and the router firewall temporarily and the same issue persists. I am currently not using any other 3rd party firewall or security / anti-virus software.

To make sure that my ISP does not block any connection, I have done a telnet from an external network and I am able to access the configured ports (transfer, encrypted and search). I have setup DC++ in Active Mode "I have configured my router".

I am able to use other P2P software in my PC (torrents) without any issues.

I also have tried all the above configurations from another machine in my network to no success.

Any kind of help would be very much appreciated! I would like to avoid using passive mode.

Thank you in advance!

Can you download in passive mode from actives?
What is the output of the "/connection" chat command when you try active mode?

Yes, I can download from active users while in passive mode.

The "/connection" chat output command is as follows:

Automatic connectivity setup is: disabled

 IPv4: Active mode
 IPv6: Disabled
 External IP (v4): 31.44.73.246
 External IP (v6): undefined
 Bound interface (v4): 192.168.0.103
 Bound interface (v6): ::
 Transfer port: 51000
 Encrypted transfer port: 50000
 Search port: 1050

What does canyouseeme.org show for ports 51000 & 50000?
Are there multiple items shown in DC++ Settings/Connectivity/IPv4 Panel/Bind Adress dropdown list? If so, what happens if you change to a possibly different binding address than what has been automatically selected?

canyouseeme.org output for both ports:

Error: I could not see your service on 31.44.73.246 on port (50000)
Reason: Connection timed out

I am getting the same error even for the common ports.

Yes, there are two items in the bind address list. The other one is a virtual VMware adapter. If I select that even the search does not give results let alone the download.

So your port forwarding configuration is not working then for these two ports, it doesn't forward TCP, forwards the ports into a wrong local IP or something else.
eMTee suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #154: “How should I set up connection in DC++?”.

Can you help with this problem?
