DC++ has stopped working message n Windows 7

Asked by Des Hili

I just installed DC++ v0.868 on a clean install of Windows 7 SP1. When I open the programme the following message appears;

"DC++ has stopped working"

I tried checking on-line and various compatibility measures as suggested by windows, but still will not start.

I can also confirm that DC++ v0.868 is working on a second computer with Windows 7 SP1.

Any ideas why I'm having this problem with this machine?

eMTee suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #578: “My DC++ is crashing. What should I check before reporting a bug?”.

Thank you for your response,

I have read through, and tried the suggestions of, the related FAQ, unfortunately without success.

However, I don't believe that that situation applies to this case, as DC++ crashes before it even opens. When I click on the DC++ short-cut, a window opens stating "DC++ has stopped working" With options to "Check online for a solution and close the program" or to "Close the program".

My computer is an IBM 8183-1GM using a Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GH processor.

Interestingly, I do not have this problem on my other computer, which is a HP dx6100, Pentium 4, 2.80GHx2

Hope this helps

Yeah it helps. The CPU of the crashing machine is too old and is not supported by DC++ anymore.
If you still want to run DC++ then some older versions of DC++ will work but those might have other issues. You can try DC++ version 0.861 or 0.860.

Can you help with this problem?
