Download speeds have changed

Asked by Rooster

My download speeds seem to have changed, I am in 6 hubs and have 20 download slots open and up to recently I would average in downloading one GB in about one hour, now out of the 20 download slots only 5 would be over 1Kb and I am averaging only 1GB in about 8 hours, my os is vista 32 bit ultimate,4GB ram, intel 2Quad CPU 2.8GHz, with a 3MB adsl connection. Any help would be gratfull.

Than You

You are not supposed to open that many number of upload slots, as in 10 more. You only open upload slots that your internet connection can handle, as in 1 (minimum), 2 (average) & 3 (maximum). If you are on a hub where there is a hub/slot ratio as in 1hub/1slot, 2hubs/2slots, 3hubs/3/slots, etc., avoid it as much as you can because those places can take up all your bandwidth.

If you are using the latest version of DC++, on the bottom of your screen, slots can be clickable when pressing up & down by mouse or on any DC++ windows may it be main/bot/private chat window you can type /slots # as in /slots 1, /slots 2, /slots 3, etc.

I'm not sure if this would help File\Settings\Downloads. On Limits, put 0 on Maximum simultaneous downloads infinite & hit OK.

Thanks

I gave that a go but does not seem to make much difference. I am using version 0.75 and the information at the bottom of the page tells me that I am getting 100Kb download and 1Kb upload and I have a 3MB adsl connection, surley this cant be correct.

You don't have any other program that uses bandwidth like torrents, online gaming, etc.
