D-Link DI-524

Asked by whatashame

I have been using DC++ for a very long time and I was active and working fine.

Yesterday I bought a router - D-Link DI-524, and now I get connection timeouts all the time.
I read manuals, read FAQs but I guess I don't get them. I really need a total step by step , because I've really tried and I always get an error from DC++ , or when I don't - I still get connection timeouts...
The DC++ errors I get are :
- failed to create port mappings. Please set up your NAT yourself.
- unable to open TCP/TLS port. File transfers will not work correctly until you change settings or turn off any application that might be using the TCP/TLS port

I use :
Win XP , service pack 2
DC++ 0.704
windows firewall disabled
no other programs that work as firewalls [or does NOD32 2.7 work as one?]
D-Link DI-524 router
Arris TM502B modem
10mb internet connection

Please help, thank you

eMTee suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #85: “I've just downloaded DC++ and started to use. I need docs or a step by step guide how to make it work correctly. Where can I find them?”.

And some aditional info :)
From the info you gave you seem to work with 2 routers , your modem seems also to be one so to have that working you first going to need to either configer the modem as a "pass trough" or forward all ports to your second router the D-link, after that you can follow the normal steps of selective portforwarding from the d-link interface.

The DC++ version you are using is no longer getting any help support so upgrade to the latest version, DC++ 0.75.

Can you help with this problem?
