Questions Regarding Indexing/Hashing and Sharing Files

Asked by Guyz0r

I have a few questions. The first is, is there a way to stop hashing of files while DC++ is currently being used? The reason I ask this is because several times now, DC++ will get permanently stuck hashing files. The only way to make it stop is to ctrl+alt+del and end process. This causes my entire index to disappear and I have to start completely over.

Another one, is there a way to prevent the index from corrupting if say, there's a power outage or the program crashes, freezes or blows up? I do not want to risk losing my index again.

Also, this might have something to do with the hub software, but is there a way to initially block requests to a users file list? In other words, is there a way that I can pick and choose who gets to see my file collection and grant access to specific users to download files from me?

Thanks

First question: Set its autorefresh time to 1000 hours, that should make it more manageable. However, you cannot prevent DC++ from indexing (hashing) because that would mean no sharing. However, any share modification would mean hashing.

Second question: Save your HashIndex.dat and HashData.xml files.

Third question: If you have to ask that, you might want to look up the term "public" in the dictionary. The answer is "no", and hopefully the answer will remain "no" for a very very long time.

Try updating your client to the latest version of DC++. On File\Settings\Advanced make sure this item is enabled by default - Use fast hashing method & hit OK. In order for this to take effect, you need to close DC++ & reopen again.

Can you help with this problem?
